“As a young professional, Austin Van Treeck says Coastal Young Professionals Network plays an important role within Sheboygan County.
“There are so many young professionals here and Coastal’s role within Sheboygan County is building a network and connecting them in order to share goals and ambitions as well as things to do in the community,” Van Treeck said.
And if anyone realizes the importance of building strong networking relationships, it is Van Treeck. He started making connections within the community shortly after graduation when he began as the workforce development specialist for the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation and his passion for building networking relationships continues.
He has built a network throughout the county that has benefited him both personally and professionally.
Van Treeck is currently a customer insights analyst for Johnsonville Sausage, where he has been a member for the past year and four months.
“I really enjoy the flexibility and work/life balance that Johnsonville provides,” Van Treeck said. “I especially appreciate Johnsonville’s dedication to the growth and personal development of their members and their emphasis on Learning for Life.”
Members at Johnsonville were responsible for the launch of their YP group to help develop and retain young professionals within their organization. The group has three committees: professional development, social networking and community engagement. They encourage young professionals to become engaged with nonprofits and giving back to the community, in addition to participating in Coastal YPN and other professional organizations.
Van Treeck also does not hide his love for the area where he was born and raised. “I wish that everyone who lived here realized what a hidden gem Sheboygan County is,” he said. “We have a lot here to be proud of and to be positive about.”
Returning here after graduating from Ripon College with a degree in economics and a leadership minor was really not even a question for him. “The area had plenty of job opportunities available, so that made my decision to come back here very easy after I graduated,” he said.
In fact, he loves the area so much that his now fiancé Sydney and her parents have settled into Sheboygan County as well.
Besides his day job, Van Treeck spends quite a bit of his free time helping with the family business: Red Wing Shoes of Sheboygan, opened by Sydney’s parents on the city’s south side. He serves as the business’ marketing consultant, leading the marketing plan, social media efforts and assisting in the store when he is able.
It does not leave for a lot of free time for fun, but Van Treeck makes certain he gets out every Thursday evening for the Levitt Amp Series at the City Green.
Van Treeck also serves as a member of the RCS advisory board as well as a member of the communications committee for the Boys and Girls Club of Sheboygan County.
“I have a lot of pride in what is happening here in Sheboygan County. I hope everyone will realize that even though there are improvements that can be made, just like any other community, there are far more positives to enjoy,” Van Treeck said.”
